AION 2 Global Launch Confirmed: Everything Revealed at Summer Game Fest 2026
MMORPG fans, it is finally happening. During the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 5, 2026, NCSOFT dropped the news we have all been waiting for: AION 2 is officially going global. After launching to massive success in South Korea and Taiwan in late 2025, the high-fantasy universe is expanding worldwide, and we won’t have to wait much longer to dive in. If you missed the showcase or just want a clean breakdown of what to expect, here is everything revealed about the global launch. The Big Launch Details NCSOFT locked in the global release window for September 2026. While they haven't given us a specific day of the month yet, the roll-out plan looks incredibly solid.
Platforms: The game is an exclusive PC experience, launching simultaneously on Steam and NCSOFT’s own PURPLE launcher.
Global Infrastructure: To keep ping manageable, dedicated regional servers will go live across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia right on day one.
Localization: No need to worry about awkward translation barriers. The game client will support 10 different languages at launch, including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean.
A Fresh Story for Everyone One of the biggest questions on everyone's mind was whether you need to know the original game's lore to enjoy this one. Thankfully, the developers confirmed that AION 2 features a standalone story set 200 years after the events of the original game. If you are a veteran, you will appreciate the world's history, but if you are brand new to the franchise, you can jump right in and fully understand the plot without feeling lost. Gameplay, Combat, and Classes Thanks to developer demos and media previews at the SGF Play Days event, we finally have a clear picture of how AION 2 plays. Built natively on Unreal Engine 5, the visuals look stunning, but it is the combat engine that is getting people talking. The game blends traditional tab-targeting mechanics with a heavy emphasis on positioning, precision timing, and free movement. It feels like a smart evolution rather than a complete departure from what makes classic MMOs great. The absolute star of the show, however, is the integrated aerial combat. Flight isn't just a fancy way to travel from point A to point B anymore. It is fully integrated into the core combat loop. You can seamlessly transition from ground combos into mid-air 3D targeting, making battles look incredibly dynamic. When the global servers open, we will have 8 traditional combat classes to choose from:
Gladiator
Templar
Assassin
Ranger
Sorcerer
Elementalist
Cleric
Chanter
PvE Dungeons and High-Stakes PvP NCSOFT is aiming to strike a balance between casual solo players, dedicated groups, and hardcore PvP competitors. On the PvE side, the endgame content structure scales based on your group size:
Nightmare: Dedicated content built specifically for solo progression.
Expeditions: Classic 4-player group dungeons for you and your friends.
Sanctuary Raids: Advanced, heavy mechanics-focused 8-player trials for organized groups.
If you are here for the competitive scene, the open world is where you will spend most of your time. The developers are doubling down on high-stakes PvPvE content, massive open-world faction battles, and contested Rift content as the primary endgame focus for competitive players. How to Pre-Register and Claim Free Rewards The official global brand website is up and running, and pre-registrations are officially open. If you head over to the site and sign up for their newsletter before the autumn launch, you will get a nice head start. When you log into the game for the first time, you will get to choose one of five companions to join you on your journey:
Pet Pagati
Konuti Worker
Papis
Black Smoke Murt
Silver Blade Rotan
September is just a few months away. Keep your eyes peeled for an exact release date announcement soon, and get your PC setups ready for the return to Atreia.
