Is a seller allowed to accept a contingent property offer?
Yes, in most instances, a seller can take up backup offers despite having a property of which it is indicated as being Contingent in Real Estate. The main buyer is busy making contingencies, and the seller can hold the listing pending or accept second-best offers, to protect himself. When the first transaction fails because of non-fulfillment of conditions, the seller has an option of proceeding with an alternative offer. This will assist the sellers to evade delays and the sellers have other options in case the initial agreement fails to close successfully.
